Gypsy Vanner Trail Ride

We had a beautiful day and a large turnout for our Gypsy Vanner trail ride. With 8 Vanners in total, we certainly caught some attention from passing riders. It was great to see some of our foals return, all grown up and under saddle, and to enjoy the wonderful scenery in the Brandywine Conservancy. With the ride over, and horses put away, we premiered the first cut of the movie to a well receiving crowd. We hope to have more trail rides once the weather warms up.

Clinic and Trail Ride May 2008

El Brio held its first annual clinic and trail ride open to all Gypsy Vanner owners and their horses.  We had a great turn out, and it was great to see some our foals all grown up. Everyone enjoyed the morning ride through the Laurels Preserve and a hearty lunch courtesy of owner, Ed Fitts, before starting the clinic session.  Our first clinician was Peter Hansen, an International Dressage Judge, trainer, rider and handler.  Peter demonstrated proper techniques for showing a Dressage Sport horse in hand, and also had one-on-one critiques. The following day brought our second clinician, Terry Lewis, a Paint and Quarter Horse judge, trainer, rider and handler. Terry covered proper presentation for showing in halter and showmanship classes. Everyone got a shot a trying a showmanship pattern-which was a lot of fun. The 2008 clinic was a great success, be sure to check back for information on upcoming shows and clinics.

4-H Visit 2007

We love introducing people to Gypsy Vanners. It never takes long for anyone to fall in love with this magical breed.  Many 4-H groups and Horse Camps have visited, and with every visit we share literature on the breed, and give them a tour of the ranch. We usually don’t get very far as most quickly become captivated with Charlie and his foals. As you can see, Gypsy Vanners love attention. If you would like to schedule a visit with a group, or if you are interested in purchasing a Gypsy Vanner, please feel free to contact us today!

Buckeye Gold Cup Gypsy Vanner Show & Futurity Event 2008

El Brio had a great weekend at the 2008 Buckeye Gold Cup in Ohio. EBV horses attending included EBV Two Buck Chuck, EBV Rose, EBV Brunello, EBV Poetry, EBV Airwalker, and Odd Job Bob. Winning both the colt and filly yearling futurity classes was EBV Brunello, a 2007 colt out of Sheba Bok by Charlie, and EBV Rose, a 2007 filly out of Feathers by Charlie. EBV Two Buck Chuck, a 2006 colt out of Bok Shey by Charlie, won the Two Year-old Colt Futurity class. Odd Job Bob was busy, and helped El Brio score over 20 first place wins. We were most proud of our wins in Get of Sire Class, won by the offspring of our stallion Charlie, and North American Bred. We look forward to producing Futurity champions for next year!

DVCTA/OVCTA Big Fall Show

Trainer, Megan Coy, attended the “Big Fall Show” with our favorite Gypsy Vanner ambassador, Odd Job Bob in November 2008. They competed in First and Second Level Dressage, and finished the day with two second places. As usual, Bob gathered a lot of attention, and left with even more fans.
